Chicken, Chicken and Olaf

Achterwerk in de kast was a children's program produced by the Dutch broadcaster VPRO that ran from the middle of the 80's to the beginning of the 90's. It grew out of a time when the broadcaster had extra timeslots, and wanted to fill up this time with children's programs. With this, Acterwerk in de Kast was one of the first youth programs from VPRO. The name of the program was taken from the children's letters section, Achterwerk, which was found on the back page of the VPRO guide. Children would go and sit in a kind of closet with a curtain hanging in front of it. Taking turns, a new child would open the curtain and then got some minutes of broadcasting time to say or show something. Following which the child would close the curtain again. A number of children would take part in each show.
